The day is almost here! We want to share some important wedding info:

We want a wedding celebration that isn't just sitting in a row of chairs watching a ceremony. We want to bring everyone together and generate something together that we will always remember. To do this, we commissioned the brilliantly talented Matt Goldstein, of Gaia Music Collective, to create a special arrangement of a song meaningful to us.

Gaia Music Collective puts on “group sings” all over NYC. Take a listen to Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten” (watch for Aidan’s special cameo appearance) or Seasons of Love from the musical Rent. Matt’s events are low pressure, high fun events that emphasize community and the joy of creating. 

For our celebration, we asked Matt to create an original choral arrangement of a song meaningful to us: Robyn’s “Indestructible”.

WHAT IS A MUSICAL CEREMONY?

From Matt: This ceremony is centered around a piece of music that is deeply special to our two grooms: Robyn’s “Indestructible,” a bold, brave anthem of love. 

The idea is this: what if we got together, learned harmonies to this song, stood in a big circle, and surrounded Aidan & David with our voices, celebrating them and their union with communal song?

This experience is designed to be accessible to folks of all musical abilities - no musical experience is needed! We can create a magical sound with all of our voices together. That’s the magic of the choir - together, we can be stronger than any of us are on our own. And don’t worry - if participating in a group singing moment isn’t your jam, you are welcome to simply watch & bear witness. 

HOW TO PICK A PART:

First, listen to the DEMO to get a sense of how all the parts come together.

Then, listen to the VOICE PARTS. The parts are split from highest to lowest (SOPRANO, ALTO, TENOR, BASS). Pick whichever part feels comfy to you! If you’re not sure which part to learn, give each of them a listen and try singing along to see what feels best. Aidan is here to help! Aidan is literally a music director and voice teacher and does this for a living - PLEASE reach out to him with any questions! Not sure what part to sing? Not sure how to practice? LEARNING THE SONG

Matt encourages you to come into this gathering as familiar with your part as you are able, so that we can spend our limited time together showering the grooms with musical love. There’s no need to stress over it or “get it perfect.” Our focus here is on joy, community, and celebration, and we welcome the human messiness of some wrong notes. It’s easier to sing in person, when the rest of our part-buddies are singing the part with us (and prosecco, also, helps). 

From Matt: Our primary intention here is to offer Aidan & David our love by giving it our best shot.
